Dear Wearside Young Labour
We hope the Left Book Club site will become a place where people can share ideas and discuss books in the tradition of the original Left Book Club of the 1930s and 1940s. We won’t be publishing books just yet but the site will feature interviews and debates with authors, book reviews, book guides but the most important thing is the site will be what you want it to be. We want you to submit reviews, ideas, features and join the debate.
There are some features up at the moment, including a look back at Anthony Crosland’s The Future of Socialism, published 50 years ago.
The features are being added at regular intervals. We will add more thanks to your comments including a ‘book of the month’ section. Users can send in book reviews and features and also modify comment on some sections thanks to a wiki facility.
The site isn’t finished yet and we want to know what you think. Which books do you want to discuss? Which authors do you want featured? Do you want to be able to create book clubs in your area? Do you want us to organise events?
Please take part in the development of the site at www.leftbookclubonline.org
Log in and let us know what you think.
Best wishes
Ed Miliband

The Young Fabians develop policy ideas through seminars, conferences and pamphlets. We produce a quarterly magazine, Anticipations, and organise regular political and social events. Recent speakers include Polly Toynbee, Lord Layard, Brendan Barber, David Miliband MP and Lord Sainsbury.
We seek to encourage debate and political education amongst members and within the wider Labour movement though campaigning and by actively involved, such as our new citizenship in schools project and Young Fabian's Candidate Network.
Labour Students
Students at Sunderland Uni now have the opportunity of joining Labour Students at the university. Michael Mordey used his many charms to get permission to organise the group. When you join Labour Students you can join the Labour party for a massively discounted rate (more spending money for the Student Uni bar). So if you’re a Student and want to join Labour Students and get that membership discount, drop
Michael a line at:

(I'm putting it in like that to prevent Michael being swamped with spam bots!)
